mp3TrueEdit App Reviews
PERFECT
Great for lossless cutting of audio files. Excellent interface and does *exactly* what you need it to
LOL MP3 True Edit dont actually do MP3
I bought this becuase I needed to convert a file to MP3 for the office. turns out.. this app is NOT MP3 on the mac… waste of money.
Very ugly UI
Please improve this ugly interface and replace this Windows XP icons! I’d use this app often If the design of the app was better. It looks bad :(
took a chance on the product without any reviews. Worked for what I needed. All I wanted to do was trim a song into parts for background on talent show and I was able to do that. Not a lot of features that would make trimming easier, for example creating marks in points of the song, but I just edited by the time stamp. It exported well to an MP3 and I was able to burn it to a cd to give to the audio person at the talent show. If your needs are not trying to master a studio recording, this is a great product for the price!
hile cutting out segments, there is no way to see the time (i.e., minutes, seconds) to help you determine where you cut needs to be. Good program.. just needs some work!
I use this app to break up some narration into individual files. Works very well. It needs just a few more additional features to make it into a great app.
better than Audacity??
how is this better than the free, cross platform, Audacity, if you still have to "export" the audio file??… a waste or $2.99.
I needed a program to take the recordings of my band that I make on a Zoom H4n and cut them into individual tracks. I can drag the file into MP3TrueEdit and it pops up immediately. It is easy to find the peaks in the recording when we are actually playing music and it is simple to choose a selection of a file and save that selection. This is exactly what I needed it for!
finally someone created a very practical app.
Thanks guys Ive been looking a long time for something that works for our gig’s GREAT JOB Thanks Johnnyray
Some of the worst UI I have ever seen on software. Horrible, un-usable garbage. Do not waste your money on this. I am so angered by wasting money on this I am petitioning the App Store for a refund.
I didn’t do a bunch of research before buying this, but needed to do some simple track edits to an MP3 file that was produced by our audio engineer. Thought about trying GarageBand, could not figure out how to get rolling. Tried mp3TrueEdit. Installed quickly, was able to figure out how to: - Load an existing MP3 file - Select segments and delete them - Export as a new MP3 UI is a little disorganized, but this didn’t really bother me. It tried to counsel me to store files under my Music directory to comply with Sandbox requirements, but it allowed me to ignore this advice. By default the “popup” help is enabled — which was annoying until I figured out how to turn it off.
Works for me!
It’s simple and does what I need done when I am in a rush.
I purchased this APP to easily take files of my bands practices and shows (recorded on a Zoom H2n), and cut them into tracks that can easily be burned to CD, played individually, etc… This APP was super intuitive, easy to use, and allowd me to get this job done quickly and easily. (I do first convert the Zoom H2ns wav files to mp3 using a separate APP, not sure if this has made a difference for how fast and efficient this APP has been.)
The app works fine, fairly easy to use but the pop up helper screens are crazy annoying. Totally understand the desire to help the users out, but this needs to be optional. It is seriously driving me crazy. Shut it off and put an option for a user to turn it on, but I promise that no one will. This would be 4 stars if the pop up helper wasn’t so intrusive.
does the job
I used to use MP3DirectCut on Windows. This is a definite upgrade, with the same key function of lossless saving, no MP3 reencode needed.
I’ve never used audio editing software before, but I urgently needed to cut a minute of instrumental solo out of a vocal backing track prior to an audiiton. This app was very easy to use and within just a few minutes I had deleted the unwanted section of the MP3 track. When I listened to it again, I realized that there was one extra beat that I needed to remove, and was able to do exactly that. Removed just one beat! And the finished product is SEAMLESS, there isn’t any audible skip or lag. You can even slow the track down to 50% speed to allow easier editing. This app is exactly what I needed for shortening vocal audition and performance backing tracks. I am extremely happy with this app! (remember, this won’t work with DRM-protected files, so don’t expect it to edit any iTunes purchases)
Great program! It’s proven indespensable for final edits of spoken-word files after initial heavy lifting as aifs in Logic Pro X. Very intuitive interface and excellent documentation complete with details on mp3 considerations, which are understandably neglected in LP X docs. Thanks for the updates, too.
Easy to use with great results.
I’ve wanted to be able to edit mp3’s for quite a while now, and this program makes it nice and easy. It works just like I’d hoped it would.
Nice app, but not for batch editing
It does what it says, but could be quite time-consuming if you're dealing with multiple files. It'd be great you can: 1, Automaticlly split audio by a number (e.g. Split an audio file into 10 tracks) 2, Batch adjust/normalize volume (for now you can only do it one by one, and you have to wait for each file to complete analysing its volume first, which takes more time)
Nice Program [no pesky in-app-purchase nags]
Nice Price, and none of the time wasting in-app purchases to review to see if I can actually afford the app. (applause) Thank you Mr/Ms developer for creating a good product, and a good shopping experience. Apps like this are what the App Store experience used to be like! Plus it works great and does plenty.
Keeps freezing
(Update) The app is updated and now working correctly. It was a bad timing because I purchased this app right after I updated my IOS. The app freezes every time I play and pause the music. I have to force quit and all the changes are lost.
Works great until you need to save your project
This program worked great. I was working on my audio track all day and almost finished. So I saved the project and decided to finish it again today. Unfortunately, when I decided to open the project it kept giving me this error " Unable to load project: input stream error - please check for an updated version of this application."
perfect for my needs
- does what it says it will do and does it well without ever crashing. no bugs at all. - with i could do more with shortcuts. i use it every day and using on screen buttons is a chore and slower. easy fix if the developer wanted to add shortcuts for track start/end. also wish i could name tracks while the track was playing. having to stop the track, name the track, then play the track is cumbersome. lastly, and getting back to shortcuts, being able to jog a little better would be nice. all in all it's fantastic, and the fact that they don't share data with third parties is the only reason i'm still using it so thanks for not being greedy with my privacy!
Very functional
This system works really well, but I find the lack of EQ controls very annoying.
Pleased with the product
It works as it should and is relatively intuitive (I have not had a need to consult a manual). Never had a single hiccup. Must be a great development team.
won't load an mp3 file
title says it all and mp3 editor that can't load mp3 files
Split and exported separate tracks from 4-hour recording
I am amazed! I just purchased this app a few hours ago. I had a four-hour recording that I needed to split into tracks. This recording loaded almost instantly into the app. Dividing it into tracks and exporting them was totally intuitive. I didn’t even check the PDF manual that is included. I am 66 years old, so it’s a bit more difficult for me to learn things than it was when I was younger, yet I found this to be toally easy. There are many other features that I haven’t even checked out yet, but if it can only do this function (the reason I purchased it) it is well worth its purchase price! One of the reviewers says it doesn’t do MP3’s on the Mac, but it did for me. I am using MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I dragged one large MP3 file into the app, and came out with 3 MP3’s that I named after exporting. I then clicked on each of them, and they played via itunes, no problem. I didn’t figure out how to name them within the app, so I just took notes on the tracks using a word document until I exported them.
Great app!
This app does the job. Found it to be robust and very reliable. Also, the support is excellent. Ran into a problem when I changed computers. They got back to me promptly with the answer I needed.
It´s Good!
Llevo poco tiempo usándolo pero hace su trabajo bien hecho. Me gusta mucho que además de cortar principio y fin innecesarios puedo mejorar el volumen a la perfcción. Gracias.
Love it for dividing long recordings into tracks
Nutshell: It works perfectly and is full featured as far as dividing up long recordings, and probably full featured in general but I’m just using it to divide recordings. I’m a knowledgeable and hyper critical power user and I *hate* lame/buggy software and I love this one. If it has the features that you need I think you will find it useful. Kiiller feature, amongst several excellent and surprising features: You can work through a long recording setting “song start” and “song end” points and then with a single click mp3TrueEdit writes your songs out to seperate files. That’s what's known as working from an “edit decision list” (EDL) and is the way the pros work when editing but many softwares don’t provide a feature like that. Cutting up long recordings is intrinsically time consuming and labor intensive, so anything that can simplify the task is essential. A more primitive way of doing the job is to find the start of the first song and “divide” the recording into two files. Then load the longer file, find the end of the first song and “divide” again, now you have one song cut out. Load the file again, find the start of the next song, and repeat. That’s pretty much torture but is also pretty much the standard way of doing it. Thank you mp3TrueEdit! In addition to that feature, it also allow you to set the song info while editing. That’s handy, you can set the song name, artist, composer, and album name. Then when you “export” the songs the files will be named correctly and then iTunes will organize the songs properly when importing. So far the only feature I’ve found missing is the ability to set the song info while the song is playing. Actually you wouldn’t expect to be able to do that, but iTunes does it and it’s a handy feature. C2Solutions Ltd does not provide a trial version of this software, that’s unfortunate. They provide a similar freebie app called “easy record and trim” but it isn’t full featured. For example you can’t try out the “divide into tracks” feature with that. I took a chance based on #1: The positive reviews here as well as #2: Man, I just couldn’t find anything else! It’s well worth whatever price they want to charge, but given the sad state of lousy software in the world today buying anything is most likely buying garbage, so it’s best if you get a trial. It’s amazing and sad how difficult it is to find quality software of any type. Here are some additional points that I want to make, I may expand on them below. 1: It’s amazing that people don’t understand or see the value in lossless mp3 editing. 2: It’s amazing that people don’t understand the basic need to divide up recordings. 3: Amazing that it was difficult to find any lossless trimming/dividing software. 1: Lossless mp3 editing: mp3TrueEdit divides the mp3 without decompressing it and then recompressing it. That’s an essential and no-brainer feature that should be supplied by any software that edits mp3, but I was amazed to find that it was difficult to find in the Mac app store. Even more amazing I found many people chatting that didn’t see the value in that. One of the advantages of digital audio over analog is that it can be lossless. In the analog days we used to make “mix tapes” by copying our favorite songs to a cassette tape. Every copy of that tapes incurs some loss of fidelity and after just a few copies the audio becomes unacceptable. mp3 is the same way, every time you decompress an mp3 and then compress it again, you lose some quality. After just a few generations this will become noticeable. If you’re editing mp3, then by definition you’re making multiple generations so this is something that needs to be avoided. The solution is to write out the edited mp3 byte for byte the same as it was before editing. That’s what mp3TrueEdit does. Some people may advocate decompressing the mp3 to WAV and editing with that and then recompress, and they may think that’s lossless, but it’s not. In the pro world there is a saying: “only digitize once.” Fideility loss adds up quickly and it really is important to avoid it. Another advantage offerred by lossless editing is the speed of editing. Mp3 files are small, WAV files are huge and take time for the computer to process. Lossless editing doesn’t require the computer to do a lot of work. In fact you can immediately tell when you’re not editing mp3 losslessly when the computer takes a long time to edit a track. 2: Dividing up recordings: I don’t see how it’s possible but a lot of people don’t understand the need to divide recordings. That’s the most basic, essential job in any audio editing. A typical workflow is to record a vinyl LP to mp3. When you do that you’ll end up with two long files, one for each side of the record. Now you need to go through those long records and divide it up into songs, one song per file. Then you import those into iTunes. In addition to songs you have to edit off the long pause at the start of the recording where you put the needle on the record and the loud pop that went along with it. You also need to trim off the end of the track where the needle took time to lift off the record, also making some undesireable noise. Here’s how you do all that with mp3TrueEdit: open the file for “side A” and set “start” and “end” points for each song. At the same time set the song name and artist and album name. m3TrueEdit also has useful “copy and paste” features for making setting that info easier. Then “export” all the songs. Then use the Mac finder to drag the files you just created into the iTunes “automatically import to iTunes” folder. iTunes will grab the files and move them to the proper organization based on the artist and album name that you set. It can’t be made much easier than mp3TrueEdit makes it. Another reason you need to divide recordings is if you do any kind of audio recording. Lectures, kids, band rehearsals, concerts, church sermons. Any live recording is going to have garbage at the start and end of the tracks.
Used to edit song to 3:10, no issues
I used this to whittle down a 4 minute song to 3:10, no problems at all. works great, easy to learn, more features than most other programs i found. Id buy again.
Fast and easy
It’s fast and easy to use. I use it to trim recordings of rehearsals or sessions down to the appropriate pieces for learning purposes. Works great.
